Choose a Field Trip

When groups arrive at the park, they receive safety information, visit the restrooms, and then are assembled as a group. They will explore the park with a ranger.

Groups are encouraged to wear clothing appropriate for the site they are visiting. Also, groups are asked to bring drinks, lunches, and other necessities with them on their trip as there are no restaurants or stores near park sites. Specific information on what additional items to bring will be distributed during the application process.

Paramount Program: On an easy hike with a ranger, learn about moviemaking and landscapes in the mountains.
Zuma Restoration Program: Learn how to restore native habitats and learn about those habitats on a short hike. Learn more about this program.
Leo Carrillo Beach Program: Spend a day at the beach. Discover how they are made and more!

Transportation for the Field Trip

If you are coming to the park...Groups are encouraged to provide their own field trip transportation to/from the park. For eligible groups that are unable to do so, NPS may provide free bus transportation through its partner, the Recreational Transit Program (RTP). Groups requesting free transportation should submit their program application at least six weeks in advance of their preferred trip date. RTP busses usually arrive at schools between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m. and return to schools by 2:00 pm.

Please select the method of transportation that will accomodate your group. If you choose RTP Bus, we will provide the transporation. However, if you can provide your own transporation, it may help otheres who do not have access to buses visit the park.
